In the early morning of September 25, 2023, Patty had an accident and passed away. The messenger family gathered in Yokohama from Japan and around the world is in deep mourning. We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family and friends back home. Let us all unite our hearts in this time of sorrow and remember Patty. Ride safe.
This September,
the Cycle Messenger World Championships are coming to Yokohama!
Since 1993, the Cycle Messenger World Championships have been held annually by cycle messengers, the fastest couriers on bikes from cities around the world. In September 2023, these festive events for cycle messengers, fellow cyclists and locals are coming to Yokohama, Japan!
Thousands will gather at the CMWC 2023 Yokohama: cycle messengers from up to 200 cities and 40 countries, fellow cyclists and folks from the bike industry, and Yokohama locals. For 6 days from September 20th (Wed) to 25th (Mon), there'll be races, art exhibits, markets, parties and more events for all to enjoy.
And our main events (e.g. the delivery race) on the 23rd (Sat) and 24th (Sun) will be held at Nissan Stadium, one of Yokohama's -- and Japan's -- greatest locations for entertainment and sports, an example of a New Standard that we aim at for this year's CMWCs.
We, the CMWC 2023 Yokohama Executive Committee, are committed to presenting to the world a New Standard for cycle messengers' and cycling's future, with "unprecedented endeavors" and "Japanese hospitality" as our axles.
